Nestled in the heart of Midlothian, VA, Burger Bach is a gastropub that artfully melds the vibrant flavors of New Zealand cuisine with American favorites, offering a unique twist on the classic hamburger scene. Ideal for those craving bold, inventive dishes, Burger Bach stands out with its diverse menu that stretches beyond the ordinary burger joint into an inspired culinary destination.
The culinary experience here is undeniably memorable, starting with their lineup of burgers that brim with creative flair and bold taste combinations. Take, for instance, the Koha Burger, featuring a black bean patty dressed with curried honey Dijon, crisp lettuce, grilled pineapple, tangy pico de gallo, and fresh cilantro sauce—a harmonious balance of sweetness and spice that awakens every bite. For seafood lovers, the Black & Blue Tuna burger shines with blackened ahi tuna complemented by blue cheese and a wasabi aioli that delivers a smoky, savory punch with a gentle heat. The French Chicken Burger carries warmth through manuka honey mustard, grilled apple slices, turkey bacon, Brie, and caramelized onions, combining comfort and sophistication. Meanwhile, the Wanaka Chicken Burger entices with creamy avocado relish, adding smoothness and freshness.
But it’s the fries that steal the show according to many patrons. With options like the Large Fry served alongside a choice of two dipping sauces or the indulgent Pimento Cheese Fries smothered in pimento cheese, bacon, and vibrant pickled red onions, these golden delights are nothing short of addictive. Customers rave about the sauce sampler as well, particularly the blueberry BBQ that offers a unique fruity tang, the garlicky aioli that lingers with a robust punch, and the roasted jalapeño remoulade which provides a satisfying spicy kick.
Complementing the main dishes, the sides are equally thoughtfully crafted. The Bach Mac, for example, blends creamy macaroni and cheese enriched with pimento cheese, smoky bacon, and a hint of adobo, sprinkled with fresh cilantro—comfort food elevated to an art form. Other standouts include roasted sweet potatoes glazed with butter and rosemary and pan-seared Brussels sprouts that add a bright, earthy counterpoint to the savoriness.
The atmosphere at Burger Bach matches the cuisine’s boldness—inviting, casually upscale, and social. Whether you’re enjoying a meal indoors or taking advantage of their dog-friendly outdoor patio (complete with heaters during chillier days), the vibe encourages lingering over good food and great company. If you read any part of this review, read this — order. the. fries. The fries are so good here! The sauces are excellent as well! I love the blueberry bbq (unique but great!), the garlic aioli (worth the garlic breath!), and the roasted jalapeño remoulade (a little kick but so good). The fries always come out hot and ready. The Hangover Cure and the North Lamb burgers are also great! The caesar salad is great as well (the chicken is a little dry, but very well seasoned). The service at Burger Bach is always outstanding. I’ve never not had a nice server, or a bad experience.
Wow. So glad we found this place. Cool atmosphere. The service provided by Alex was impeccable. Very knowledgeable and provided great recommendations. Checked on us regularly to ensure that we truly received 5-Star service. The brisket quesadilla is to die for. The Traditional shrimp were cooked perfectly. The bartender Ellie made beautiful and delicious drinks. The “Smoke Show” was sooooo good. Thank you Ellie. We will definitely be making this one of our go to spots in Midlo. Alex keep making such impressions on your customers and you'll keep us all coming back for more.
We were starving after a decent day of disc golf and needed some place that would allow dogs and had gluten free options. We found this place and realized that we had been to their Durham, NC location and loved it! They had a small outdoor patio where we could sit with our dog. One of them turned on the heaters, which was really helpful, as it was cold and windy. Some of the plastic patio windscreens would be even more helpful here though. As the wind was pretty biting. We would have stayed longer and probably gotten another drink or 2 if that was the case. But, overall the food and service was spot on! The spinach dip and fries are to die for. I got the vegan black bean burger (which is gluten free) on a lettuce bun and it was fantastic! My spouse got the gluten free bun on his burger and loved it. If you haven't checked out this place yet, I think it's simply a must.
We were quickly seated during our reserved time. Currently on the Keto diet that limited our options. We had a couple of burgers that were delicious. They have a lettuce wrap option at no cost. The food arrived hot and ready to eat. The fries looked amazing and the other diners at our table quickly devoured them. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Shuck for a buck oysters 3-6.
We had a fairly large party on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated quickly. Our server, M, was fantastic. She took great care of all of us! Our food was fast, delicious and what we ordered. Our drinks were refreshed constantly. She did an amazing job. Three of us had lamb burgers and we thoroughly enjoyed them. Thanks!
Stopped in on a a Friday night shortly after 8 PM. We were seated pretty quickly and shortly afterward brought waters. The server who brought us our waters ended up being our server for the evening after we had waited a few minutes. But he ended up being great and gave a good recommendation for fry sauce (jalapeño remoulade)! The only other time I’ve had Burger Bach was during the pandemic via a to go order and it was good. But this experience completely surpassed that one. I had the original burger (no pink) w/ had sautéed onions vs. raw onions and it was amazing. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The share fries were exactly what I was craving and I loved the sauce options we did jalapeño remoulade and truffle aioli; the remoulade wasn’t too spicy and also seemed fresh but the truffle aioli was my favorite. My boyfriend had the bourbon bacon burger, and a safe to say that he enjoyed it because I didn’t even get offered a bite lol! We’ll definitely be coming back!
Once again, we enjoyed a fantastic dinner! Our gourmet burgers were a mouthful for sure! Cooked to perfection just like we wanted. The bacon jam is da bom!!
